This week we put horror movies aside (travesty, I know!) for a good ole traditional Christmas movie. I’ve picked one that isn’t too popular so hopefully you haven’t seen it already. This is my mom’s all-time favourite Christmas movie so it quickly became a staple at our household. It might be a little emotionally manipulative (listen to some thoughts on manipulation in movies here) but you’ve been forewarned. And it’s a Christmas movie, so what do you expect?
It’s the first Friday of December and that means that it’s FINALLY Christmas movie recommendation time! I can’t hold out on this one so I’m actually going to recommend my favourite (or at least one of my top three favourites) movie for you guys today. There’s a couple reasons for this. Firstly, it’s awesome. Secondly, some of you may have heard about a movie coming out today called Krampus. Well, remember how annoyed I was that Hunger Games ripped off the incredible Battle Royale? It’s the same thing here. The storyline is classic European folklore but I don’t want to hear everyone going on and on about how unique and interesting it is when the movie was already made in 2010 (Rare Exports) – and it’s amazing. Ugh. America, ripping off all the great foreign films. Anyways, I digress, I suppose it’s about time to get to the review.
Friday again! It came so quickly this week, which is awesome! I have nothing planned this weekend but painting. I am painting just about every piece of furniture in my house. Not really, but at least four or five pieces so keep posted for the results of at least one of those pieces on Monday. Now, the reason you’re here: to get another wicked-fantastic movie recommendation. Well, remember how I told you guys that I was on a great streak? The streak lives on! This one is a real winner. Watch it tonight. And eat pizza. And drink beer. And have some chocolate.
I have been on such a good movie streak. I honestly can’t believe it. It’s been about six or seven great movies in a row. Not even just good movies, but great ones. If anyone out there is as much of a horror junkie as I am, you’ll recognize how rare this is. It’s like a special gift from the movie gods because of all the trash I’ve sifted through. That must be it. I’ve paid my dues and I’m finally collecting. Whatever it is, you guys are in for some really great recommendations. It started with Goodnight Mommy Last week and it continues with The Final Girls this week. These movies couldn’t be more different from each other but they are both fantastic films.
Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you’re in the mood for an incredible movie tonight because I have one heck of a recommendation for you. Now that Halloween month is over (woe is me) we can get back to other genres of movies other than horror. Just kidding! You guessed it, I have another horror recommendation for you guys this week. This one is more of a dramatic horror and a thriller so I wouldn’t classify it as a Halloween horror film. Regardless of it’s classification though, this movie is incredible. I realize that that is a strong word. This movie deserves it.
Halloween is upon us! Tomorrow is the big day and I’ve saved the best recommendation for last. I watch horror movies all year long so for a movie to really resonate with me at this time of the year, it has to not only have all the components of a good horror movie, but it has to specifically be about Halloween or refer to Halloween. This one has all of that in spades. That being said, even if it weren’t a Halloween movie I would still really appreciate the style and the fun atmosphere that this horror movie brings to the table.
Halloween is a week and a day away! Yahoo! I’m pumped. I have some Halloween decor ideas going up on Monday, so stay tuned for that, and there are two more Halloween movie recommendations coming down the pipeline (including this one). I hate how quickly special occasions come and go. It seems like I’m always just in the middle of prepping and celebrating and then it’s over. Womp womp. Oh well, if there’s only a week and a day left then we’ll make it count!
A big hello to everyone out there and a very happy Back to the Future Day! “What is Back to the Future Day?”, you may ask. Well, let me tell you. Today just so happens to be the day that Doc Brown and Marty McFly travel to in the future of Back to the Future Part II. A moment like this doesn’t happen very often so I decided to put aside the scheduled Wednesday Night Kitchen Raid to commemorate this momentous occasion with quick reviews of each of the movies in the trilogy.
How great is it that Halloween is on a Saturday this year? Pretty darn great in my opinion. I’m planning on throwing a Halloween party and dressing up as Winifred Sanderson alongside my blonde and brunette girlfriends so that we will be the Sanderson Sisters. The problem is, all the people I’ve told this to have said, “Who are the Sanderson Sisters?” Ugh. What are your thoughts? Would you get it? Either way, we’re going for it so at the very least we’ll look like well coordinated witches. Speaking of witches… Today’s recommendation was the terror of my childhood and maybe one of the reasons I love horror movies so much to this day. I watched it again last night to refresh my memory and I have to say that it’s still pretty creepy and loads of fun to watch.
Another Friday is here and we are that much closer to Halloween! This weekend is Thanksgiving in Canada so I’m preparing myself for some gorging and some sweet sweet hangs with the family. I’m also preparing myself to start an incredible DIY project that I’ve been collecting supplies for for a while. I hinted about it a couple weeks ago and it’s finally time to put the plan into motion. You guys should be excited. Anyways, that’s not why you’re here today. You’re here today for an awesome Halloween movie recommendation and boy-oh-boy do I have one.
